Fishery Bay Surf Reserve dedication October 5th 2025

Fishery Bay Surf Reserve was dedicated to the National Surf Reserve network today, with a plaque unveiled to commemorate the event.

Ngahuia & Matt Trewartha instigated the process to have Fishery Bay recognised and have worked with commitment with the wider community to achieve the national status of a surf reserve. Professor Andrew Short OAM Co-founder & board member of National Surfing Reserve (NSR) highlighted the essential criteria to be recognised as a NSR.

-Consistency & quality of waves

-Consideration as a sacred place & historical usage.

Interestingly South Australia has the second highest number of NSR's in Australia!
