The City of Port Lincoln is inviting community feedback on six draft Community Land Management Plans, supporting Council’s continued focus on well-managed parks, sporting grounds, coastal reserves and community facilities.

The review builds on Council’s master planning work and recent success in securing external funding and investing in improvements to community spaces. It forms part of a coordinated approach to planning, improving and caring for the places residents and visitors use every day.

Prepared under the Local Government Act 1999, Community Land Management Plans identify the land they cover, the purposes for which it is held, and Council’s objectives, policies and proposals for its management. They also establish performance targets and how Council will assess its progress.

The plans provide a framework for managing community land and considering activities such as recreation, events and leasing, consistent with the purpose of each area.

Council’s master plans identify longer-term opportunities and priorities for its precincts and facilities. The Community Land Management Plans complement this work by establishing the management framework within which those opportunities can be considered. Individual improvements will continue through Council’s planning, budget and approval processes, with consultation undertaken where required.

The draft plans group community land into six categories:

  • Recreation and Sports Grounds;

  • Parks, Gardens and Reserves;

  • Community Assets and Buildings;

  • Cemeteries;

  • Foreshore; and

  • Coastal Reserves and Boat Ramps.

This approach recognises that different places serve different community needs, allowing management objectives to better reflect the role of each type of land and facility.

Mayor Diana Mislov said the review supported Council’s commitment to getting lasting community value from its planning and investment.

“Council has been working to establish clear priorities for our community facilities, attract external funding and invest in improvements that make a practical difference,” Mayor Mislov said.

“Alongside that investment, we need clear arrangements for how our land and facilities are managed and used, so they continue to serve the community well into the future.”

“These plans build on our master planning work and support responsible stewardship of the places where people gather, play sport, enjoy our coastline and take part in community life.”

“We encourage residents, sporting clubs, community groups and other users to review the draft plans and tell us whether the purposes, proposed uses and management objectives reflect what matters to them.”

Public consultation opens on Wednesday 16 September 2026 and closes at 10am on Friday 23 October 2026.

The draft plans and information about providing feedback will be available through Council’s online Engagement Hub at yoursay.portlincoln.sa.gov.au. Submissions can be made online, by email, by post or in person.

Community members can also present verbal submissions at the Ordinary Council Meeting commencing at 6.30pm on Monday 19 October 2026. Please notify Council beforehand if you wish to speak.

Council will consider feedback received during the consultation period before deciding whether to amend and adopt the plans.
