Eyre Peninsula (EP) Southern Emu-wrens are tiny and light weight birds, with very long tail feathers. They are shy and hard to spot, and are seldom seen. They feed on insects, and breed in spring and summer - building well-hidden dome shaped nests. Surveyors

often use their calls to identify them. Their call sounds similar to fairy-wrens, which they are sometimes confused with. Keep a sharp eye out for these precious creatures.
